Media Studies Holds Poster Competition On World Press Freedom Day

ONLINE REPORT: – World Press Freedom Day celebrated in Department of
Communication and Media Studies (CMS) Hazara University. On this occasion poster
competition was held among students of the department. They made different charts with
unique themes related to print, electronic and social media. Mr. Azam Jan, Assistant
Professor (CMS) was the organizer of the event. Head of Department Dr. Shujaat Ali Khan
highlighted the importance of 3rd May and appreciated the work of students.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shujaat Ali Khan said, “This day is celebrated as World
Press Freedom Day. On this day, as journalists we all have to realize the duties given to us,
we should be responsible, honest and true to our profession. A Journalist should be a
responsible citizen and must highlight the real problems faced by the masses of the
society”. “The sacrifices of Journalists both in peace and war are a lot which must be
appreciated”, he added.
Mr. Azam Jan asserted, “This day is fully dedicated to the Journalists, who work
courageously in print, electronic and social media”. “On this day, we have arranged a
poster competition for students, they made beautiful chart on various themes highlighting
the importance of 3rd May. It will bring awareness related to media”, he added,

At the end of the day certificates were distributed among the winners of the poster
competition. Komal Zulfiqar BS (6th) and Sarmad Saddique BS (4th) got first positions.
Kainaat Tanveer BS (7th) got 2nd position and Momina Nusrat, a student of BS (6th) got
3rd positions. Faculty members of the department and a large number of students were
present on the occasion.
