Old is Gold; Radio is still Powerful Medium of Mass Media

Online Report:-Pakistan Youth Change Advocates (PYCA) conducted two days’ workshop with the collaboration of Department of Communication and Media Studies on the topic of “Effective Campus/Community Radio Programming in the Age of Internet” at media studies Conference Room. Danish Saeed who is Directing Manager of Suno FM 89.4 was speaker at this occasion while Hisham Khan who is synchronize with PYCA was a main root behind the conduction of workshop. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Idrees was chief guest at closing ceremony. The Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manzoor Shah was also present along with him. Above 60 students within the department and outside of the departments participated in the workshop.

Department of Communication and Media studies invited PYCA for workshop of two days in which they promoted community radio and citizen journalism. Mr. Danish Saeed who was presenter,  delivered various lectures and briefed  the students about radio tactics, techniques, how to conduct a program, timing for each program’ episode, how to manage timing for program, fixed point chart, voice overs’ techniques, how to make sung line, how to compose jingles, music, lights, console monitoring, puffing, voice filters’ methods and much more. Hisham Khan was giving advices, opinions and views during intervals.

Hisham Khan conducted the entire session with the help of On-Air producer Mr. Liaquat and made it fruitful for all the students. Another interesting thing was that Campus Radio FM 98.6 made a new slogan FM 98.6 “Suno Hazara”.

Talking to “The Campus Observer”, the Head of the Department Mr. Shujaat Ali Khan said, “We are looking forward for seminars and workshops through which students can learn many things”. “I am also very thankful of PYCA team that they always give us their time and it is honored for us to have them in our department”, he added.

Danish Saeed said, “I am feeling very lucky to be there and also very glad to see the massive crowd who really take interest in the field of radio and want to make their future bright in broadcast media. I wish them all the best for their future”.

All the students were looking very excited after getting enough information about radio. Talking to “The Campus Observer”, female student Mahnoor Rashid said, “It is such an informative session for all of us because there are many new things which I have learned in two days”.

At the end of the workshop, Mr. Hisham Khan said, “I hope this Department will give us more opportunities so that we can inform, educate and aware the students in every aspect of this field and being a representative of PYCA”. “I am very thankful that Dr. Shujaat Ali Khan and Mr. Liaquat made it possible for us and we made it possible for new students”, he added.

The chief guest, Vice Chancellor of Hazara University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Idrees presented certificates to the participants of the workshop. On this occasion, shields were also presented to VC and Pro VC. The faculty of CMS and a large number of students were present in the ceremony.
