First National Conference on Emerging Trends in Bioinformatics and Biosciences (NCETBB-2017) will be held in Hazara University, on 20-22 July 2017. It will be organized by the Department of Bioinformatics, Hazara University, Mansehra, KP, Pakistan..

The Conference is to be held every year and is the 1st in the series. Its scope covering new and exciting research areas, thereby inviting interest of a large audience. The conference targets research presentations by academic and professional researchers, and also includes invited talks enabling participants to learn about the latest trends in field of Bioinformatics and Biosciences.

Research contributions are expected from the participants, covering various disciplines under the domain of Bioinformatics and Biosciences. For all submitted papers, the review criteria include significance of the problem, novelty, clarity, completeness, and accuracy.

    PhD Scholar Published 13 Research Papers

    ONLINE REPORT: – Hayat Ullah Wazir, a PhD scholar of Chemistry Department Hazara University published 13 research papers in international journals, 12 research papers are in process, some submitted and some are under revision. He is among one of those students in the university who gave such an excellent performance in academics under the supervision of Dr. Fazal Rahim. Dr. Fazal is an Assistant Professor in Chemistry Department Hazara University Mansehra.     Viva Voce Exam Held in Media Studies

    Online Report: –   Viva-Voce examination of the M.Phil scholars of the Department of Communication & Media Studies (CMS) was held at the department. A number of four students appeared in the exam including one female

    The external examiner of this viva was Prof. Dr. Waseem Akbar, Associate Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan. All the scholars showed good performance and successfully defended their thesis.

    Prof. Dr. Waseem Akbar appreciated the efforts of the scholars and suggested the two scholars, Mr. Liakat Khan and Miss Nazia Khalil to write a book on their respective theses.

    In the end, Mr. Azam Jan, Head of the Department and Mr. Noor Nabi Khan, Controller Examination (Internal) thanked the external examiner for sparing some of his valuable time and for enlightening the minds of the research scholars by putting insightful and thought provoking questions.

    Hazara University Holds Board of Faculty of Science meeting

    OBLINE REPORT: –           The meeting of Hazara University’s Board of Faculty of Science was held in the University. The Vice-Chancellor of the varsity Prof. Dr. Habib Ahmad who is also Dean of Sciences chaired the meeting.

    On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Habib Ahmad highlighted the importance of university’s educational, creative and research activities to the participants and said, “It is the higher educational institutions that bring improvement in the progress to the nation. We need to concentrate on a purposeful and compatible educational system that is modern, creative and innovative”.

    We must work in individual as well as collective way for the progress and betterment of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor added.

    The meeting approved the recommendations of Board of Studies of various departments of the Faculty of Science. The scheme of studies of Agriculture and Statistics departments were also approved.

    During the meeting it is also decided that those students who publish 10 papers in international accepted journals with impact factor would be given gold medals. Recommendations were also presented to establish faculty of Agriculture and faculty of Engineering Sciences.

    Media Studies Commemorates 5th Anniversary of Campus Radio

      The 5th anniversary of the Campus Radio FM 98.6, Hazara University (HU) Mansehra celebrated here in Communication & Media Studies Radio Hall in a lively way. Mr. Shujaat Ali Khan, Additional Registrar HU was the chief guest of the function. He applauded the efforts of Mr. Azam Jan, head of the department and Mr. Majid-ul-Ghaffar, Station Manager for the FM 98.6. He also gave away certificates and shields to the faculty, administration and presenters of the FM radio.

     During his speech, Mr. Shujaat Ali asserted, “Electronic media has revolutionized the information system. The persuasive nature of the content presented over electronic media influences the thoughts and behavior of the youth. The Campus radio FM 98.6 is successful in persuading the youth to get education and work for the progress and prosperity of nation” Speaking to the audience, Mr. Azam Jan, Head of the department asserted, “Campus Radio has profound effects on students’ on education, information, and other social accomplishments. We are providing great opportunity to students in order to enhance and polish their knowledge, abilities and talent through FM98.6”

     On this occasion, Mr. Maji-ul-Ghaffar, Station Manager FM.98.6 first thanked the chief guest of his arrival and appreciated his role as a pioneer of this FM 98.6. “The FM radio has established itself as an important educational, motivational, writing and speaking skills’ enhancement tool for male and female students of Hazara University”, he added

    A large number of students and staff of the department participated in the ceremony. At the end, the chief guest gave away certificates and shields to the staff, admirations of the department and DJs of the radio.

    Adil Khan Receives PhD Degree

    ONLINE REPORT: –  Mr. Adil Khan, head of the department of Pak-Studies, Hazara University Mansehra received PhD degree in the discipline of Political Science from  International Islamic University Islamabad after  successful  defense of  his thesis on 17th April 2015. The topic of his Ph.D. thesis was “Democratization in Pakistan (1999-2009); Quest for a New Paradigm”. His supervisor was Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dhaka University Bangladesh. He has three publications in international journals on his credit up till now.IMG_20150417_114356

    While talking to the website, he stated about his topic and said, “Democratization is one of the most talked about concepts in academic circles. My research is primarily a contribution to the existing literature .My research findings can be utilized by policy makers, political actors and members of civil society to evolve a sustainable democratic process in Pakistan.”

    Newly Elected HUASA Cabinet takes Oath



    The oath taking ceremony of Hazara University Academic Staff Association (HUASA) held at Multipurpose Hall of Hazara University. A large number of professors and teachers attended the ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sohail Shehzad administered the oath to the newly elected cabinet.


    Due to a strong system of check and balance, the institutions can show better performance and can provide services in the right direction, Dr. Shehzad said on this occasion. No system can run without check and balance in the world. I am proud to be one of the humble members of HUASA. I have a great sense of respect for the way the former cabinet left no stone unturned to guard the rights of teachers.

    I appreciate their earnest endeavors towards progress of the University and the promotion of academic and research activities on the Campus. I hope that the new cabinet will also give priority to such activities, he added.

    While congratulating the members of the newly elected cabinet, the Vice-Chancellor hoped that they will play their due role in improvement of the institution and the growth of an academic environment.

    Earlier, the newly elected President of HUASA, Mr. Tariq Anwar Khan, and the General Secretary, Syed Ejaz Hassan Shah, thanked the entire faculty of the Varsity for showing their trust in them.They said, “We will play our role for the betterment of the teachers and the University”. They emphasized that they will continue their struggle to solve the problems faced by the faculty.The progress in academic and research activities can only be made when the teaching community is able to concentrate on their primary duty, i.e. teaching, in a worry-free environment, they added.

    ONLINE REPORT: – Hazara University Academic Council meeting held here in the (Garden Campus) Hazara University (HU) Mansehra under the supervision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sohail Shehzad.

    In this meeting important recommendations were made for research and course work.  Introduction of new courses and syllabus for the different departments and operation of board of studies and board of faculty were approved during this meeting.

    Some important decisions were made during the meeting including the approval of, faculty of applied basic sciences and department of Bioinformatics, Pakistan Studies, Earth sciences, and Agriculture.

    Academic council also approved the new questionnaire for the affiliation of institutions and new rules of Pakistan Bar Council remained under discussion.  Issues of researchers and students were also been discussed in the meeting.

    Addressing the participants Vice Chancellor of HU Prof. Dr. Sohail Shehzad said, advance studies and researcher board, board of studies and academic council are the important bodies and their decisions are pivotal for the promotion and development of the education and research work. “University gives priority to the highly experienced and qualified teachers that help the students in their research and course work”, he added.

    ONLINE REPORT: – Department of Communication & Media Studies (CMS) organized a guest lecture for the students of BS, MSc, and MPhil of Prof. Dr. Masroor Alam Khan, the Chairman Media Studies, Rifah University Rawalpindi; on the topic of “Techniques of Effective Writing of Research Proposal”.abcd

    Prof. Dr. Masroor Alam Khan delivered an extensive lecture to BS, MSc, and MPhil students. While emphasizing on the importance of research proposal, Dr. Masroor said, “Research Proposal is the base of Research Thesis. If hard work is done on the synopsis then it will be much easier for the researchers to write the thesis”. A researcher should be hard worker and of studious nature, he added.

    Talking to, Head of the CMS Department, Hazara University, Mansehra Azam Jan stated that the lecture would help the researchers while writing their synopsis. Further he asserted that the aim of conducting this lecture is to give exposure to the students and they can enhance their knowledge by attending these kinds of lectures.

    Researchers who attended the lecture were very excited and quite satisfied as well. One of the researchers while talking to said, “Lots of confusions were there before the lecture but after listening to Dr. Masroor Alam khan these confusions have been diminished. This will help a lot in our synopses. These kinds of lectures should be conducted in every department to enhance the knowledge of the varsity students, another researcher added.

    School of Law Students Take Part in Moot Court Competition

    ONLINE REPORT: – International Committee of Red Cross arranged all Pakistan moot court competition in which twelve universities of the county participated namely University of Punjab, Islamia College University Peshawar, University of Quetta etc. The team of School of Law Hazara University Mansehra also took part in this competition. The team consisted of four members in which three were students namely  Zeeshan Khan, 6th semester ,Raheel Khan 3rd semester, and Saad Nawaz 3rd semester L.L.B and one faculty member Mr. Hassan Khalid lecture at School of Law Hazara University  Mansehra, he was there as their coach. The team participated in competition and awarded with shields by organizers and judges of competition. Mr. Hassan Khalid while talking to, he told, “I am very glad to attend the competition. International Humanitarian Law gave the case to our students and they handled the case very carefully and it was very encouraging opportunity for the students of the varsity”.
